When their Uncle John and family made up their minds to come to New Zealand, Elizabeth with her three year old daughter, Helen, and Alexander (jnr) decided to join them. We don't know what happened to the elderly Alexander, he may have passed away or else made his home with his sister Janet who lived with John's family and also remained in Scotland.
William came to New Zealand at the same time as his half brother James.
Alexander remained single.
Elizabeth remained single.
Ellen remained single.
Sarah remained single.
Barbara remained single.
Duncan remained single.
Peter did not emigated to New Zealand.
John did not emigrate to New Zealand. It is understood that John married a woman who had 2 children of her own, and they never had any of their own.
From the records that I have found, John married an Isabella and had one son called John. They moved to England.
In the 1861 Scotish census I have found John registered as a visitor, staying with his brother Peter, and his wife Margaret. I can't find Isabella or their son John in the Scottish or English census.
In the 1871 English Census there is an entry for John, Isabella, John and living with them is their neice Marjary who is 10. It would appear that she is Peter's daughter. They were living in Middleton, Northumberland.
In the 1881 English Census, John is no longer living there, and they have a border named James Patterson, aged 25, living with them.
In the 1891 English Census, Isabella is not registered. Perhaps by this time she has died? She would have been about 59/60 then. Living in the house is John, his neice Marjary who was 30 and then there are two granddaughters living there, Isabella J Drummond, aged 10 and Alie M Drummond, aged 8
It's possible that John died in July 1900. This is not confirmed.
