Charles Best continued to farm his father's property untill he retired in 1943. He produced a small income from hops and ran sheep and dairy cows. After the death of his wife Amy Jane, in 1913, his mother, then his sister, Ethel, house kept for him. He had built a new home on the farm near that of his mother. In his later years he lived with his daughter, Clarice, in Nelson and his brother Alex, who remained at the Moutere. Charles, outlived his brothers and passed away in 1950.
Elzabeth Agnes married Albert Devolle Chapman of Dunedin at the Upper Moutere Presbyterian Church on 14 April 1903. They lived at Beach Road, Richmond, with their nine children. It is thought that Elizabeth lived with Maurice and Stan Roberts in later years.
Barbara Ellen (Nell) Married Frederick Cullen and lived near the northan entrance to Nelson. Their family consisted of two sets of twins. Nell was buried at Wakapuaka cemetery when she passed away in 1951.
